Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 September 2026.
These terms govern your use of UValue Studio (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you're using the service on behalf of an organisation, "you" includes that organisation, and you confirm you have authority to bind it.
The service
UValue Studio is a building physics calculator covering U-values, interstitial condensation risk (Glaser method and monthly moisture balance), dynamic thermal response, embodied carbon and materials cost estimation, benchmarked against primary-source building regulations across the territories listed on the site. It's a calculation and reference tool for built-environment professionals — it doesn't replace your own professional judgement, and it isn't a certified compliance software product for any specific regulatory submission unless we say so explicitly.
Accounts and subscriptions
Accounts. You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for anything that happens under it. Let us know straight away at support@uvaluestudio.com if you think someone else has access.
Free trial. Where offered, the free trial runs for the period stated at signup and converts automatically to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. The trial is available once per customer; we may decline a trial where we reasonably believe it's being used to avoid ever paying.
Billing. Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually as selected, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices shown exclude tax, which is calculated and added at checkout by our payment processor based on your location. You can cancel any time through your account; cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current billing period unless we say otherwise.
Changes to pricing. We may change our prices. We'll give existing subscribers reasonable notice before a price change takes effect on their next renewal.
Accuracy of results and professional judgement
We verify the regulatory data behind UValue Studio against primary-source legislation and standards for each territory we cover, and we're upfront in the tool itself about which figures are drawn directly from a primary source and which are indicative or approximate — see the notes shown alongside individual results. That's a real, ongoing effort, and it's the basis on which we stand behind the tool's accuracy in normal use.
That said, results depend entirely on the inputs you provide, standards and guidance documents are periodically revised, and every project has site-specific conditions a general-purpose calculator can't know about. UValue Studio's outputs are a professional aid, not a substitute for your own professional judgement, sign-off, or a specialist assessment where one is warranted. You're responsible for checking that a given calculation method is appropriate for your project, that inputs reflect as-built or as-designed conditions accurately, and for verifying results against the current version of the relevant standard before relying on them for a regulatory submission, building-warranty purposes, or any other decision with real consequences.
Nothing in this section limits the specific, in-context notes shown next to individual calculations in the tool (for example, around bridged-layer U-values or monthly moisture balance) — those notes apply in addition to this general statement, not instead of it.
Acceptable use
The calculation engine, regulatory benchmark data, and materials library behind UValue Studio represent substantial, ongoing work, and are our intellectual property (or licensed to us). Except as needed for your own ordinary use of the service, you agree not to:
- Scrape, systematically extract, or bulk-download the calculation logic, benchmark dataset, or materials library, whether by automated tooling or manually;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the underlying methodology or source data of the service, beyond what's inherent in using it as intended through the browser;
- Use the service to build, train, or improve a competing product or dataset;
- Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the service to third parties outside your own organisation's permitted seats, without our agreement.
You keep all rights to the calculation results, saved build-ups, and custom materials you create using your own inputs — this clause protects the tool itself, not your use of its outputs.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that, to the extent permitted by law: the service is provided "as is", and we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free; and our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the service, however it arises, is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost projects, or costs of rework, even where those losses were foreseeable.
Ownership
We own the service, including its software, design, calculation methodology, and compiled benchmark data (as distinct from the underlying published regulations themselves, which remain their originators'). You own your account data, saved build-ups, custom materials, and anything else you create using your own inputs.
Termination
You can stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, including the acceptable use clause above, and will normally give notice and a chance to put things right first unless the breach is serious or ongoing.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. Significant changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and where a change materially affects your rights, we'll aim to give existing subscribers reasonable notice.
